Alex is one month old

I can't believe that Alex is a month old today! Time is flying by this summer...Alex is already changing so much and we are looking forward to his doctor's appointment this week. I will update again after it with all of his stats. What a cutie!

A Beautiful Summer Day

What a gorgeous day today! It is 79 degrees and sunny with a nice breeze. What a change from our super hot, humid days of last week. Brady spent his morning coloring at his early birthday present from mommy and daddy on the deck. It was a great time!
After getting his hands filthy dirty outside, I took Brady in to wash up. I plopped him on the counter to wash his hands and as I grabbed the towel to dry off hands, he promptly grabbed a huge pear off the counter and took an enormous bite. With juice dripping down his chin he grinned at me and proclaimed, "Brady likes pears!" I just had to laugh.

Uncle Jen and Uncle Jerry

Brady loves to see Jen and Jerry and can't get enough of them when they are around. Yesterday we saw them at a wedding for one of our good friends from college. Brady started calling Jen "Uncle Jen" for some reason and thought it was hilarious. Thanks for playing yesterday, Uncle Jen and Uncle Jerry!

Update on the boys

Alex had his first adventure in the infant tub this morning. I had been giving him sponge baths up to this point and decided it was time to move on. Brady was very interested in all that was going on.
All wrapped up.
Alex is growing like a weed and eats like a horse! I can't believe how much he wants to eat in the evenings before bed. You can tell he is on a growth spurt! Alex is getting better at stretching out feedings during the night. We are getting about 4 hours of sleep at a time most nights, so it is getting better. A couple nights ago he slept for 6 hours before waking up to eat. Of course I kept waking up wondering when we was gong to be waking up!

Brady is doing well adjusting. This week has been tough for him and mommy. Andy returned to work on Monday so he doesn't get as much attention as he used to. Brady has resulted to lots of silliness and doing things he knows he is not supposed to do to try and get more attention. Ah the joys of now being outnumbered!

The StateFarm Boys

Here are the three Johnson boys decked out in their StateFarm softball shirts. Can't tell it was a warm one. Look at Brady's cheeks!

Pitching from the Mountain

Saturday night we hit another Express game. My mom and dad went with us.
Two reasons why Brady loves Grandma and Grandpa Schwartzhoff:
1. HUGE pieces of pizza that do not get cut up. "Take big bites!" he says.
2. Grandpa lets him drink soda...not thrilled about that.
Following the game, they always let the kids onto the field to run the bases. Andy thought Bradywould enjoy this so he took him down. Forget the bases...Brady wanted to pitch...from the "mountain." So cute that he calls it that. Here he is getting a pitching lesson from daddy.
In heaven...I don't know who had more fun, Brady or Andy!

Leinie's Fest

On Saturday we headed to Chippewa Falls for the Leinie's family reunion. It was packed and super fun. We went with my parents and Andy's dad. While there we ran into many friends as well. Who can pass up free food, beer, and music on the river and a beautiful summer day!?

Surprise, Great Grandma Johnson!

Last Friday we headed to Galesville to make a surprise visit on Andy's Grandma Johnson. She wasn't able to come to the Alex's baptism and was itching to get to see him. So, we made her day and went for a visit. Here are four generations of the Johnson family.
Brady was thrilled to find that Andy's cousin had a drum at her house. We got to listen to him bang away on it for over an hour...he was in heaven! Thanks for sharing Kimberlyn!

Up to some old tricks

Both boys are napping at the same time for the first time in over two weeks. Yeah! I am trying to get a few things done and updating our blog was on thing on my list.
Brady was up to some old tricks this past week. Yup - he emptied the whole cupboard. Not a lid was left behind!

Alex's Baptism

Sunday was Alex's big day. We had him baptized. It was a wonderful day.
Here is my precious boy all dressed up. I LOVE this picture!
The service. Matt and Lisa (Andy's siblings) were Alex's sponsors.
We all grinned to see Brady with folded hands praying during the service. Too cute. He also had us cracking up as he quietly repeated various words from the sermon. "Lavish" was our favorite!
It was so cute...during pictures Brady reached down and took Alex's hand. Another picture I just LOVE!
Family photo - Brady is looking a little droopy. He was running a temp of 103 that day and was teething horribly. It was a tough day for him, but he was a trooper.
Daddy's family
Mommy's family
A little blurry but...the whole gang. Friends and family
Brady reached him limit during lunch. He fell asleep on me during brunch. Poor thing. The good news is that by Tuesday evening he was turning a corner and is now back to his old self.

Alex's first baseball game

Two and a half weeks old and Alex made it out to his first baseball game. Andy was so excited! It wasn't the Brewers, but our local team, the Express.
Brady was thrilled that he got a new bat when we went to the game. Gotta love those big sunglasses right? He insisted on wearing them.
Chillin' at the game

The bat never left his hands the entire night.
Alex keeping toasty warm with mommy.
Daddy and Alex "watching" the game together.

Gram comes for a visit

My grandma made the long trek from her house in Iowa to come meet Alex this weekend. We had a great time with her here.
Great Grandma Silliman and Alex
Jerry and Brady were having stroller races in the garage. Brady thought this was great fun, as Uncle Jerry was making sound effects the entire time!
As Brady approached the basketball hoop he would "dunk it."
Hanging outside on a beautiful Saturday afternoon
Cuddling with Aunt Jen
Jen even shared with Jerry!

Good Times

Friday night we headed out to attend the wedding of a former youth group student. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time hanging out with our friends the Berges and the Cedarblades.

My boys

Here are a couple of shots of my boys from this past week. I love this one of Alex in the swing. He is just so peaceful.
Brady, hanging out in his chair at Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's.
Brady seems huge to me now that Alex is here. Here are my boys laying on the bed. You can see from the blur of Brady's feet that it was tricky to keep him still for this one!

Come on Brewers...

Brady was sitting on the couch tonight enjoying some goldfish crackers before bed and watching the Brewer game. He was all chilled laying back against the couch when he announced "Come on Brewers, let's get a hit!" I swear he said all those words. Andy and I looked at one another and just laughed. He is a fan. It was so cute!
Silliness settles in before bed time

Big Brother Silliness

All in all I can say Brady has done great with having a little brother at home. He holds him and gives him kisses every day. I love listening to Brady tell Alex good morning and that he loves him. Melts my heart. Along with the good, there has been lots of silliness and pushing of the limits. Normal, I know. Here are a couple of silly pictures from the week.
Mr. Buckethead
Swapping hats with Daddy
Practicing his "batting stance" as Brady calls it.

Week One

Sleepless nights, feeding constantly, changing diapers, managing a silly two year old...that about sums up life in our house lately....and we are loving it! Alex continues to do great. He is gaining weight and continues to be in good health. Big brother Brady is adjusting well to having to share time with Mommy and Daddy, and we are trying to find a routine. I thank God that Andy is able to be home for a couple of weeks right now.
Here is my favorite picture of Alex so far...what an angel!
Alex loves to sleep...during the day! He still has his days and nights a little backwards, so we are working on that.
We have had many friends and family visiting this past week. Among them were Andy's sister Lisa. She was a big help while she was here last week and we were thrilled to have her home.
4 generations of the Wall family. Alex got to meet his Great Grandma and Grandpa this past week.
Smiles are frequent, but short. We captured this one! I wish I knew what he was thinking about.
